Black Pepper Beef Stew

Salam,

U all well known about my addiction to simple dish. Well this is one of them. Black pepper & beef, perfect match in heaven ^^, our favorite (me & my hb yeah :D). But this one is actually not from my recipe collections (it is after this..). My officemate gave me this wonderful recipe which she got it from her aunt. Don't ask me abt where her aunt got this recipe yeah or i'll end up interviewing her for the source.

But i just add a little bit of black pepper because i want my kids to eat it. I tell u this, be it with black pepper or not or just a little bit (like me ^^,) its still delicious. My picky eater daughter taught i made mushroom soup for her hahah & she ate it (that's the most important right hihi). So don't worry, i give u the original recipe yeah, if u don't like spicy, just ignore the black pepper. Here the recipe...

Black Pepper Beef Stew
  • 300g beef, thinly slices
  • 1 yellow onion, cubed
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 5 tbsp all purpose flour
  • Water (depends on how much soup u want in ur stew, for me i just add until 3/4 of my pot)
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced
  • 1 carrot, cubed or sliced
  • 1 package fresh button mushroom
  • 2 or 3 tbsp coarse black pepper, don't use ground black pepper yeah
  • Salt to taste
In the medium size pot over medium heat, melt the butter saute onion until soft & fragrance.
Add all purpose flour & keep stirring until the flour start to sticking in the bottom of your pan (this was my officemate instruction but if u use a non stick pot like me, just stir it for 2 or 3 minutes).
Add water little by little to & keep stirring to avoid any lump.
Add beef & let it boil until the beef tender.
Add celery, carrot & mushroom, let it cooked.
Add salt & black pepper to taste.
Serve hot.
