Smoked Beef In Spicy Coconut Sauce

Salam all,

Today i would like to share with u my parents all time favorite dish, smoked beef in spicy coconut sauce. If i told u its my parent favorite thats mean our (me & my siblings) favorite too :). But its not easy to find a smoked beef here in Shah Alam. My parents found it somewhere near Cheras, & bought it almost every week!! My mom gave it to me  for me to cook at home...errr...ookk..(actually i really like it if my mom cooked for me hahah). A few days later, i called my mom to ask for the recipe, its not that i don't know the recipe, but i'm afraid it turns out not like what i expected. Well..u know mom...her recipe was a little bit of this....a little bit of that...& so on, no exact measurement. So i do it myself, & its turns out delicious hahah..my hb love it, but not my kids of course, coz its quite spicy for them...here the recipe...

Smoked Beef In Spicy Coconut Sauce
  • 500g smoked beef
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 shallots
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 6 bird eye chillies (u can add more if u want)
  • 1 inch turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 lemon grass, pounded
  • 1 potato, peel & cut into 6 pcs
  • 250 ml coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
In the medium pot over medium high heat, boil smoked beef with 1 cup water until the beef soft & tender & water reduce to half.
Meanwhile, in the blender, blend shallot, ginger, bird eye chillis & turmeric with 1/2 cup water until fine blended.
Pour the blended mixture, lemon grass & potato into the beef & let it boil until the potato soft & tender, reduce the heat, add coconut milk & let it simmer for a few minutes. Add salt, & done :).
