Crispy Squid Ring

Salam all,

Do u guys like deep fried food? Me personally...yes!! haha. I must admit i have a weakness for deep fried food. Anything deep fried taste good to me. No wonder i love tempura so much :D. I tried to deep fried everything if possible hehe...yeah i know its not good, but..well i love it.

Have u ever deep fried squid? Of course u are hehe...this one of my favorite & my family too. But i had a really frustration moment with it coz u know squid are very easy to overcook. I search & search & search how to get a perfect golden brown & crispy batter & at the same time the squid should be very soft in texture hmmm....then i get the answer.

Here the tips, first use a high heat & make sure your deep fried oil are smoking hot. Thats it & deep fried until golden brown. It only 2 or 3 minutes. Ok here the recipe...

Crispy Squid Ring
  • 5 medium size squid, sliced
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp rice flour
  • Salt & pepper to taste
Combine the egg, oyster sauce & white pepper in the small bowl.
Marinate the squid with the egg mixture & set aside.
Meanwhile, in the big resealable bag, combine all purpose flour, rice flour, salt & pepper.
Add in marinated squid & discard the access liquid, close the lid & shake it until everything coated with flour mixture.
Deep fried until golden brown.
