Creme Caramel
I can't remember when is exactly the first time i eat this dessert. But the only thing i remember was i wonder how do they prepare it. So as usual i search for it & decided to try it since its only takes 5 ingredients & this 5 ingredients is always available in my house :). I still remember my first attempt to try this recipe. I'm so worried if my caramel taste bitter, then i ended up getting my caramel color lighter than the above picture hahah ^^,. So here my recipe...
Creme Caramel
- 5 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- 4 eggs
- 500ml milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla essence
Combine 5 tbsp sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat, let the sugar melts and turn into a golden brown color. Remove from heat & pour into a large mould or small, individual moulds and swirl to ensure caramel is even. Set aside.
In the separate saucepan, combine milk & sugar over medium heat until the sugar dissolve.
Meanwhile, in the separate bowl, whisk eggs & vanilla until well combined.
Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture & whisk until well combined.
Pour the egg custard mixture on top of the caramel.
Place the mould/s in a water bath in a roasting pan (the water should come 2/3 way up the mould/s).
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until set. Cool and chill until required.
To serve, loosen sides with a knife and turn out onto serving plates
